DD Mau for VANEATS

DD Mau for VANEATS

November 12, 2012

The VANEATS.ca crew were kind enough to let us preview one of their latest dining packages at DD Mau called Give Me Mau! I’ve wanted to have a Vietnamese sandwich from DD Mau for a while now, but haven’t had the chance. Beipas tried it before and said it was pretty good. I stopped once to try an avocado smoothie.

Minami

We visited Minami last month and had a unexpected 3 hour long dinner at the restaurant’s patio. Wow, looking at my pictures, we ate a lot of food!

We started the meal with Aburi Carpaccio, Shiso Mojito Watermelon and Citrus Cured Scallops, and Chilled King Crab and Shrimp Cha-Soba; all are chilled dishes and all are beautifully plated.

Cafe Nuba, Yaletown

Cafe Nuba is a small little restaurant on Seymour. At this Nuba, you place your order at the cashier and then go find a seat. There isn’t ver much seating at all, and I think they do a lot more take out than eating in. Honestly, I prefer the cooler Nuba restaurant on W Hastings. Seems like this is more fast food.

Caché Bistro & Lounge

After the Minami Grand Opening Party, I was still a bit hungry since I couldn’t eat much. The place was packed, and had mostly seafood, but still had a good time. A friend and I decided to go eat a bit more, so we decided on Caché Bistro & Lounge. They took over the old Charm Modern Thai space, and serve French and Asian inspired food.

DD Mau

I never heard of DD Mau until a couple weeks ago until Dee & my friends kept going on and on about DD Mau on our walk to Minami for dinner. I thought it was some kind of inside joke because DD Mau sounds kind of funny when it’s said repeatedly, but it turned out to be a real vietnamese sandwich shop in Yaletown. A few days later, I was back here to grab a quick bite with my friends.

The Flying Pig

Ever since I saw someone blog about the Braised Short Rib and Bone Marrow mashed potatoes, I had to try out the Flying Pig. Two ingredients that get me every time all in the same dish. It’s been in Yaletown for quite a few months now, and me and a friend finally went last Friday after shopping at the Canucks store during their Customer Appreciation days. The Flying Pig was pretty busy, but we were able to get the last open table.

Last week before we head to Blink 182′s concert we grab a quick bite to eat at Charm Modern Thai.

I didn’t have a good experience on my first visit to Charm Modern Thai a year ago, but words out that they have a new head chef, and with recent positive reviews from other bloggers, I was willing to give them a try again. Also their  2 for 1 appetizer happy hour everyday from 5pm – 6pm, worked out perfect with our concert schedule.

On a Canucks game day, Yaletown Brewing Company offers free trolley buses from their restaurant to the arena. Last week we decided to take advantage of the trolley and got dinner at Yaletown Brewing before heading to the game.

I walked past Sweeney’s of Yaletown a few weeks ago, and my friend told me they have an awesome Duck sandwich. Beipas want there a few days before our visit and confirmed that the duck sandwich was amazing. She didn’t bring her camera that time, so she wanted to go again, and brought me along this time.
