Once again we were invited by Vaneats to try out their newest dining package at Suika. Suika is a great izakaya restaurant outside of downtown, having already been there before, I was quite excited to try this dining pass.
After a nice run at Tynehead Park, we needed some good food to recover. Sushi Zen is about 10 minutes away from that area and kind of on the way home. It was an awesome choice.
Makoto is a small authentic Japanese restaurant located in South Burnaby. The chef (who is also the owner) is very friendly and talkative. However, I must say the service was a bit slow because there were only two people working (the owner and another person).
This small sushi restaurant located in Burnaby is really a hidden gem. My friend and I decided to try out this place on a weekday. The restaurant itself was not packed. However, the rush hour traffic on Hastings Street made it a bit challenging to get to the restaurant.
My friend took me to Sushi Nanaimo for the first time. The restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a long time to get a table. I had really high expectations for this place since it was so busy and the restaurant got such high ratings on urbanspoon. However, I was quite disappointed at the quality of the food as well as the service.
Sushimoto was a restaurant that I frequently visited back in my university days. I had kind of forgotten about this place until a friend of mine asked if we can explore good Japanese restaurants in Burnaby. I immediately thought of Sushimoto.
Sushi Village is one of the more popular restaurants in Whistler. It’s always packed, and you often have to wait or make a reservation during the weekends. On our fourth Whistler snowboarding trip in the past year, we finally got to try it out.
I stumbled upon Red Tuna because it was the closest Japanese restaurant that was open on a Sunday I could find in Marpole area. The restaurant is really small with only a couple tables and a bar for seating.
I decided to try a new sushi place in New Westminster. I found this place on urbanspoon and invited Beipas. However, either of us have heard of Victoria Sushi before. It is probably because the restaurant is pretty secluded and does not receive a lot of drive-by exposure. It is also quite far away from the sky train station and is strangely situated in an area full of residential apartments.
Hachibei is a Japanese owned Japanese restaurant in Vancouver. I brought my friends here for dinner because Justin Bieber was in town that day and downtown restaurants were packed (with little girls) everywhere.
Kojima Sushi is a new restaurant that opened recently in New Westminster where King Sushi used to be. The restaurant kept the same interior decorations but really vamped up the exterior.
We visited Minami last month and had a unexpected 3 hour long dinner at the restaurant’s patio. Wow, looking at my pictures, we ate a lot of food!
We started the meal with Aburi Carpaccio, Shiso Mojito Watermelon and Citrus Cured Scallops, and Chilled King Crab and Shrimp Cha-Soba; all are chilled dishes and all are beautifully plated.
