Gyo O

Gyo O

March 27, 2013

Gyo-O is an unique Japanese restaurant located in Richmond. I say that because of the interior decoration and the specialty items on the menu. We decided to visit Gyo-O on a weekday after work. The restaurant seemed a bit empty around 6:30pm but it quickly filled up as the night went on. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was jammed packed and there were people waiting at the door.

Kam Do Restaurant & Bakery

Kam Do is a HK style cafe restaurant in Richmond. Near the entrance area of the restaurant was their bakery section. The bakery had traditional Chinese pastries like the pineapple buns and egg tarts. I was planning on getting some for dessert but our dinner ended up being extremely filling.

Garden City Hot Pot

Garden City Hot Pot was the most peaceful hotpot experience I’ve ever had, in a restaurant or at home. It was not an all you can eat restaurant, every thing was a la carte and were priced quite high for the quantity you’d get.

The past week I have been setting up my new office in Richmond and needed to make a run to Aberdeen center’s NCIX for a couple computer supplies. While we were at the mall, we decided to grab a quick lunch at Mambo Cafe in the food court.

Adorabelle Tea Room

Adorabelle Tea Room is a new place to go for High Tea in the Steveston area. My friend saw a friend post pictures on Facebook of the place, so she really wanted to go. My friend currently lives in Australia, and she says the prices of high tea there are usually about $50. At Adorabelle it was only $23 before tax and tip. The decor is a bit more modern than the places I’ve been to, though quite girly still. There were lots of pinks and whites, and didn’t seem old fashioned.

Ninkazu

Ninkazu

Ninkazu is our friend’s favourite place for AYCE sushi. He told us about it a long time ago, but it took us a while to want AYCE sushi, and a while to make it out to this area.  Ninkazu is also owned by the same group that owns Tomakazu on Broadway. We went on a Friday night and it was very busy and packed with people waiting for the late night menu. They weren’t very organized at the front as people were putting their names down, so we were placed lower on the list and had to wait until past 10pm to be seated.

Since I am Filipino, it’s kind of strange that this is my first sit-down Filipino dinner at a restaurant in Vancouver. There are a few restaurants in Metro Vancouver that my family orders from, but it’s usually a restaurant where you just pick from pre-made dishes and they serve it up in a bowl or foam container for you to bring home. I’m also really not a big fan of these places, because the food isn’t particularly fresh as they sit in steam trays for who knows how long.
