The One Restaurant

The One Restaurant

February 11, 2013

The One Restaurant has been on my wish list for a while for one main reason. Their skyscraper high bubble teas. They are little 3 times the height of the cup they serve it in. How does it not fall over when they bring it to the table?

Kingspark Good Food is a food stall in the Crystal Mall food court. They serve food similar to other HK Cafe’s, with fried rice, meats, and “Asianized” pasta dishes.

I work right by Crystal Mall, and walking past Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot during lunch time, this place is always busy. There’s usually a line up of people. Me and a coworker finally got to try it on a warm summer day. I guess Hot Pot isn’t so popular when it’s boiling hot outside.

I went to Isami Sushi for lunch one day, and it was a bit tough to find. Although the address is officially 4603 Kingsway, it’s actually located on McKay Ave, at the very end of the building.

Boston Pizza, Kingsway Metrotown

I haven’t been to a Boston Pizza in years. I used to go to this place quite a bit with friends while I was still in university. I didn’t have a job or much money, and also didn’t know any better. At that time, I hardly ventured out of the ordinary. I decided to go back with my brother for lunch one day since it’s been a while, and it was Pasta Tuesday.

My coworker introduced me to Tung Hing a while ago when she was craving Banh Mi. Lucky for me she went during lunch, and grabbed some Vietnamese sandwiches and gave one to me. She’s raved about this place before, and is her favourite.

Saffron Indian Cuisine is the go to place for our department if there’s something to celebrate – birthdays, employment anniversaries, maternity leaves, etc.  It’s right across the street from our office, and has probably the best Indian buffet I’ve had. It costs around $13 after tax during lunch time.

Donair Delight is kind of my go to lunch place for a shawarma plate. There’s really only two that I know of in my area – Abdul’s BBQ and Donair Delight. Abdul’s BBQ is way too expensive in my mind at close to $14 for a shawarma plate.

Pho Century Fine Vietnamese

Cold rainy weathers always calls for pho, so I had one of those late afternoon lunches at Pho Century on Kingsway.

This pho restaurant seemed really new, they probably just opened within a few months. And unlike the ‘regular’ pho joints, this place’s decoration is considered a bit on the fancy side.

Van-Ya is the place my sister have been raving about for the past little while. It is pretty much her favorite place to get nabeyaki udon at the moment. She finally brought me there last week to celebrate Chinese New Year.

My brother wanted to have lunch one day, and I wasn’t craving any Asian food this time, and haven’t been to Red Robin in a while, so I thought, why not? Their burgers are pretty good.

Pho Hoa is a Vietnamese restaurant that I typically stay away from. It’s a franchise with tons of locations around North America. I’ve even seen one in LA, and I’m pretty sure there are lots of other locations. Anyways, their Pho isn’t nearly the best. The only thing they have going for them is that they are open late. I haven’t been to a Pho Hoa for a good couple of years now.
