I have been to the Pearl House Restaurant a few times but never reviewed it until now. In our most recent visit, we decided to do take out. We ordered: Honey Milk Tea with Pearls, Assam Tea with Pearls, Spicy Tofu & Minced Pork with Rice, Deep Fried Chicken on Rice, and Hot Tofu Dessert with Taro Balls.
I’ve been on a roll for Korean restaurants lately. My latest Korean dinner was at Potter’s Garden Korean BBQ in Burnaby. Although it was a BBQ restaurant, I didn’t order anything BBQ simply because all the BBQ dishes require minimal of 2 orders. I got 3 different dishes instead.
Makoto is a small authentic Japanese restaurant located in South Burnaby. The chef (who is also the owner) is very friendly and talkative. However, I must say the service was a bit slow because there were only two people working (the owner and another person).
This small sushi restaurant located in Burnaby is really a hidden gem. My friend and I decided to try out this place on a weekday. The restaurant itself was not packed. However, the rush hour traffic on Hastings Street made it a bit challenging to get to the restaurant.
Sushimoto was a restaurant that I frequently visited back in my university days. I had kind of forgotten about this place until a friend of mine asked if we can explore good Japanese restaurants in Burnaby. I immediately thought of Sushimoto.
I first visited Pho Hong a few years back, and always remembered this restaurant as the spring rolls pho joint because they had really good spring rolls and adding an order of spring rolls to a large pho is like the thing to do here.
The Burquitlam area is somewhere that I really need to explore more of. There is a ton of Asian, and mostly Korean places to eat at here. I studied at SFU so I was quite familiar with all that it had to offer, but as a student, I had no money to actually go out and try it. I’m glad I have friends near by the area now that will gladly eat and explore with me.
Kingspark Good Food is a food stall in the Crystal Mall food court. They serve food similar to other HK Cafe’s, with fried rice, meats, and “Asianized” pasta dishes.
My first time visiting Chongqing Restaurant sort of reminded me of Richmond’s No.9. They have all sorts of chinese food at a fair price.
On the table and in our bellies were Spicy Wontons, House Crispy Chow Mien, Spicy chicken with spinach, and Deep fried bread with condensed milk.
I work right by Crystal Mall, and walking past Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot during lunch time, this place is always busy. There’s usually a line up of people. Me and a coworker finally got to try it on a warm summer day. I guess Hot Pot isn’t so popular when it’s boiling hot outside.
I went to Isami Sushi for lunch one day, and it was a bit tough to find. Although the address is officially 4603 Kingsway, it’s actually located on McKay Ave, at the very end of the building.
I haven’t been to a Boston Pizza in years. I used to go to this place quite a bit with friends while I was still in university. I didn’t have a job or much money, and also didn’t know any better. At that time, I hardly ventured out of the ordinary. I decided to go back with my brother for lunch one day since it’s been a while, and it was Pasta Tuesday.
