I went to Wings in Surrey just this Monday after work with a buddy. We were quickly seated, and ordered 4 pounds of wings – Chicago Salt & Pepper, Not-as-Hot Buffalo, The Original Westcoaster and the Heavenly Honey Garlic all for $27.99 (I think).
I’ve been here a lot of times before, but my first time in the past 6 months. I think I can make better wings, and I’ve had a couple of Make-Your-Own-Wings parties, where I prep and cook the wings in a deep fryer, and tell my friends to come up with a flavour of their own. Fun! But clean up is not. Anyways, I didn’t think we got 4 pounds of wings. The wings seemed a lot smaller, and after eating my 2 pound share, I wasn’t full at all. What happened? I could’ve probably eaten another 2 pounds of their wings. Have they gone through recession and not made it back up? They also didn’t even give us celery with our wings, just carrots this time.
Well, the flavours were good though. Though some of the chicken was slightly over cooked the flavourings were all good. Chicago Salt & Pepper had a good flavour. Not too salty, and the sea salt (?) actually provided a nice crunch. The Not-as-Hot Buffalo was not hot at all, and weren’t very saucy. I coudln’t feel much heat, yet it was given 2-peppers out of the max 4. I’d probably go for the Wings of Fire next time, but I doubt I’d touch the Bobby Wing. I don’t want to be stuck with a pound of wings I can’t eat. The Original Westcoaster was another dry wing with pepper, and a nice hint of lemon. It says truly a taste of home, but I don’t know about that lol. Is British Columbia lemon-pepper? The Heavenly Honey Garlic were also pretty good.
Our waitress was also kind of slow. She never came back to refill our drinks. There may have been a shift change though because the girl that ended up refilling our drink and giving us our bill was different. But still, there shouldn’t be that big of a gap. My friend was with an empty drink for about 10 minutes.
My time here wasn’t that enjoyable. It’s not a cheap place to get wings, but they do have 39 cent wings on Sundays (which still isn’t THAT cheap). And the wings seem to have shrunk, or I can eat a lot more. Does that picture in the header look like 4 pounds?
