Wild Wing, a popular franchise restaurant in Ontario, opened it’s first BC location in Surrey a couple weeks ago. This place is really good for watching sports because there have lots of TVs all around the restaurant. We were there for UFC 159, and were super lucky to be seated right away at the packed restaurant; totally walked it at the right time.
Although there were regular pub food options like burgers, we were eager to try a few of their 101 flavors of chicken wings. We started with hot honey, salt n vinegar, and cajun. On the side we also got an order of potato skin fries.
The hot honey was probably my favourite flavor out of the ones we ordered, however, this sauce had 4 spicy peppers on the menu; I wish it was actually spicy. The salt n vinegar wings were okay. I couldn’t really taste the vinegar so I decided to add my own from the sauce rack. The cajun wings were very flavourful and I would order that one again. You can get the wings in different styles as well (for example, boneless, butt-naked, or traditional). We went with the traditional breading as recommend by the waitress. Aside from the sauces, the wings themselves were in good sizes, meaty and quite juicy. We planned on ordering more wings but to all of our surprises, we were quite full after just 3 lbs of wings between the 4 of us.
Besides the wings, there were also a good selection of fries you can snack on. We ordered the potato skin fries, pretty much fries with potato skin toppings like green onions, cheese, and bacon. I thought it was a great idea to do potato skin fries, we all loved this. The sour cream makes a huge difference, so if your order didn’t have any (like ours), make sure you ask for some.
I’m happy that this place opened in Surrey, and that fact that they have lots of TVs all around the restaurant, it makes a great option for the locals to go hang out and snack on wings for hockey games or UFC.
