White Spot on Lougheed

Before rock climbing in Coquitlam, we wanted to try out Jimmy’s Place for brunch, but sadly it was closed on Sunday. So we decided on settling for the White Spot near by because we couldn’t think of anything else. It seemed like the place was pretty busy because there were a ton of cars there. When we went in, we were quickly seated though. Big restaurant.

Me and a friend shared the waffles, and we were able to get both strawberry and blueberry. We also split the pulled pork sandwich. Our friends ordered the French breakfast, and waffles. I also ordered the chocolate banana bread pudding, but for some reason it never came.

The waffles were pretty standard, albeit kind of bland. The blueberry sauce was definitely way better than the strawberry sauce. Both had chunks of actual fruit in it, but something just seemed off about the strawberry sauce. Maybe because it wasn’t sweet enough for me. If I order waffles, pancakes, or french toast, I like them to be buttery and sweet. The blueberry was nice, as the fruit still had some texture and was sweet. Not very special though.

The pulled pork sandwich was very oily, just dripped out when you picked it up and bit in. Fairly bland as well, not a very strong barbecue flavour. Meat also wasn’t the tenderest.

For breakfast, I’d probably stick to their regular savoury breakfasts, with eggs sausage and hash browns. I’d also stick to their burgers which are usually really good. Although my dessert didn’t come, I was thankful, because I was really full, and this was a pre-rock climbing meal.

As a WS insider I thought I’d mention that they’re testing a switch to fresh strawberry and blueberry toppings which are a big improvement. I’m surprised by the pulled pork sandwich. From the picture I can see well enough why you thought it was bland as it doesn’t look as if it was prepared right. Also surprising is that your negative experience was at that location as it’s known to be one of the best WS locations.

Was this experience recent as the banana bread pudding was pulled a while ago for most locations.

    Hi Tasha,

Thank you for the feedback and the information. This was sometime in February I believe (I’m very behind in my reviews as you can see).

This is my first visit to this location, but, this is just a review from that one trip. I’m almost willing to bet that if I ordered the tried and true menu items, I would’ve had a better experience.
