Village Taphouse, a restaurant/sports bar located in the village area behind Park Royal Mall. I came here for lunch on my friend’s recommendation.
I was quite hungry that day, and wanted something I’d never order for lunch: Steak and Frits. But before that, we decided it would be a good idea to get some beer in our empty stomaches, so we got an order of their any 3 beer samples for $6. There was about 3 pages of beers to choose from. The beers came in 3 little beer glasses, they probably don’t add up to a pint, but to me it was a good deal because of its variety and the opportunity to discover new beers.
My steak and frits took a little long to come but it was soon forgiven once I tasted the steak. This steak was cooked perfectly to my medium rare preference. It was juicy , tender, and very flavourful. It was a really good steak, better than the steaks at some of the steakhouses I’ve been! There was a very nice red wine sauce at the bottom of the dish, good for both the steak and the very very awesome parmesan fries.
My friend ordered the Mac and Cheese, which was a bit of a let down for me. It was more like pasta in cream sauce rather than cheesy and gooey.
I had a great lunch, steak and frits was the way to go.
