The One Restaurant has been on my wish list for a while for one main reason. Their skyscraper high bubble teas. They are little 3 times the height of the cup they serve it in. How does it not fall over when they bring it to the table?
I finally got the chance to try it on our way home from Whistler. We had a group of 8 so we were able to try a good amount of dishes and bubble teas. I ordered my usual – chicken nuggets with rice, and a taro slush with pearls. The portions are huge here, but the prices are also a bit more than other Taiwanese bubble tea restaurants. My two items cost over $20 after tax and automatic gratuity.
My chicken nuggets were crisp, but was a tiny bit lacking in seasoning. The texture was nice, crisp and still moist inside, with fairly large chunks of chicken. And of course the fried herbs added extra flavour. It was served with rice, and four side dishes to compliment the food – green beans, cabbage, tofu, and a spring roll.
The main attraction was the bubble tea. They are huge, and it’s probably good enough to share one with a friend. The bubble tea was delicious and refreshing. My friend who prefers the powder taro over fresh, agreed that this one was delicious too.
Everyone’s portions were huge and didn’t hear any complaints. We ordered, a hot pot, spicy dumplings, chicken fried rice, beef satay noodles,
My friend sent me more pictures from another visit, and their desserts are huge too. Don’t be scared to share.
