Ramie’s Greek Restaurant

Tonight I went to Ramie’s Greek Restaurant. That was one satisfying meal with the team. While our friends got the Shrimp and Chicken souvlakis and Combo Platter, Dee and I shared Dee’s Platter. Yah, that is a platter name after Dee (one of meplusfood’s writers)! How can we not get it?!

The Dee’s Platter had roast lamb, Spinach Pie, Dolmathes served with Greek Salad, Rice Pilaf, Roast Potato, Tzatziki & Pita ($34.95). It was a dinner for two. The meal started with Greek Salad and Pita bread. The salad was quite good, because the vegetables were fresh. The pita bread was nice and warm, and I really liked their taztsiki sauce. It tasted lighter than the tzatziki sauces I’ve had at other restaurants, it was really good with the pita bread.

The roast lamb, spinach pie, rice, roast potato and dalmathes all came together on one big plate. I didn’t waste anytime to dig in. I started with rice, and the dalmathes. I’ve never had dalmethes, and it was pretty tasty! It was beef and rice wrapped with cabbage. Now I’m curious what dalmethes would taste like at other Greek restaurants. The roast lamb was alright. It was tender and the meat was falling off the bone, but there wasn’t anything special to it.

It was about half way through the meal, that I realized my dinner is getting quite oily. It was good, but it was oily. The rice was very buttery. The spinach pie’s crust was very flaky and buttery too. I was glad I had the salad to balance out the meal.

One thing did turn me off a little bit was that the rice came with steamed carrots and beans. They looked like frozen vegetables, in fact I think they were. That didn’t look or taste appetizing at all.

My friends also enjoyed the food here. If you like meat, you should get the Combo Platter ($43.95). That thing was such a monster, it’s got everything from calamari, shrimp, chicken and lamb. There were so much meat the rice had to come in a separate dish. It’s a dinner for 2, but it’s got way too much  food than 2 people need. It will definitely satisfy your appetite.

I am a little curious of why this place isn’t busy at all. There was probably 2 tables with customers when we walked in, but I figured it was still early for dinner. But after we finished at around 8pm, there were still quite a few empty tables. It’s a nice quiet place to eat I guess. The prices were reasonable, service was friendly, and the food tasted good. I think I would come back for a lunch in the future.

Note: Meter parking at the front of the restaurant.

  • don’t forget.. there’s a printable coupon if you have an entertainment book.. we saved $10 off of $40.

The dalmathes were good here.. but the roast lamb yah was OK. It had way too much bone for me, when compared to what I had at galini’s. Decent prices though..
