The Novotel Hotel Buffet is located right at the Taoyuan international airport in the China Airlines building. This is a place to grab a bite to eat when you have a short stop over in Taipei.
It cost about $20 for the buffet, quite expensive in Taiwan standards but it has quite a selection of food. The best part was the sashimi station. Although there was only 3 different types of sashimi available, they were all freshly sliced by a chef behind the counter. There was a chinese noodle and pasta station for freshly made noodle soup and pasta. There were also some fresh steamed buns and dim sum dumplings.
There was a great selection of tropical fruits at the fruits and salad station. If you visit Taiwan in the summer then you are in a great treat for super sweet local fruits such as pineapple, papaya and guava.
The dessert station was also quite big. There were self served ice cream with waffle cones, cakes and pastries, and my favorite: taro and coconut tapioca.
What I liked best about this buffet was the freshness of the sashimi, made to order food and variety of different cuisines. Not a usual place for a tourist to visit, but great for a layover near the airport.
