A friend of mine heard good things about Master Hung BBQ Restaurant in Richmond, and while we were in the city, we went for a quick lunch.
Lunch specials here ranges from $7 – $9 mostly consists some sort of meat on rice. Wanted to try as many things, my friend ordered 3 kinds of meat (BBQ pork, soy chicken, and roasted pork) on rice. I on the other hand, usually not a fan of Chinese BBQ, had a Special Chicken on Rice.
The portions were really big, we should’ve taken the hint when the waiter wanted to walk away after taking only one of our orders down. The chicken rice dish I had was kind of like boiled chicken with very fatty skin, some pieces were meaty, but most of them weren’t. The green onion and ginger sauce on the side totally made the dish better.
As for the BBQ, my friend enjoyed it enough to order more for take out. I had some of the roasted pork and it was delicious. The very fatty pork was tender, and had awesome crispy skin.
Either of us could finish our lunches, my leftover was more than enough for my next meal, there was so much rice!
Every table in the restaurant gets a complimentary soup. The soup that we had was a Chinese melon soup, and it was quite nice. Speaking of nice, the staff was surprisingly friendly too, for a Chinese restaurant. So friendly that our waitress shoved part of the tip we gave her back, saying it was too much. WTF? It was quite bizzarre.
Anyway, from this experience, I’d say, stick with the BBQ stuff, and bring cash, because they are a cash only restaurant.
