Lola, Seattle

Last month we were in Seattle to catch a Coheed and Cambria concert, and before for the concert we had a Mediterranean feast at Lola.

Lola is a restaurant that I was familiar with, last time I was in Seattle, I had quite a brunch here (ref: Brunch at Lola). This was my first dinner at Lola, so we just let our local seattle friend do all the ordering.

We started off the meal with some pitas and spreads. The six spreads we had were Kopanisti (pistachio), Roasted sweet red pepper, Tzatziki, Cauliflower & anchovy, Kalamata (turkish fig) and Fava skordalia (garlic).

These spreads were really good and were all very different. My favorites were the roasted sweet red pepper and the Kopanisti.

Next up on our appetizers were the Kebabs. These kebabs were served on hot iron plates. We had a meat plate, which had pork, lamb and Halloumi cheese. They were served on some caramelized onions and were splashed with a shot of ouzo right after it was served on our table. While the meats were tender, they also had really nice charred flavors.

The other kebab plate we had was the squid kebab. I like this a lot because it not only also had a lot of charred flavor it was also spicy!

As for our mains, we decided to just order 5 and share it family style.

We had the Manti which was lamb ravioli with yogurt and pine nuts. This was really yummy, the lamb was excellent with the yogurt.

There was the Octupus, which was a dinner version of the octupus hash I had at brunch, and it was served with cripsy pork belly. It was just as delicious as the breakfast version, everything was fresh, and packed with flavors from the grill.

I also tried rabbit for the first time as my friend ordered a Rabbit Tagine. It was served on a bed of couscous, I thought the flavors were great, but the rabbit meat was just a tad dry.

My favorite mains of the night were the Grape leaf wrapped trout and the Slow roasted leg of lamb.

The trout was really tender wrapped in the grape leaf, it had a ton of flavors from different herbs, yet it tasted really light.

The slow roasted leg of lamb came pre-sliced. And this lamb was soo good. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed lamb this much. It was super tender and it wasn’t gammy at all. This is the dish I’d come back for.

It was a pretty epic feast we had there. Of course we didn’t leave without having those amazing pillow like donuts. If you want to try a different kind of Mediterranean food other than souvlakis or donairs, this is a good place to visit.
