We learned how Portland has this cool thing where you watch a movie, while eating good food and drinking good alcohol. We decided on trying out Living Room Theaters on our first night in town. I think they played 5 movies, but we chose to watch a movie called Arbitrage starring Richard Gere. When you purchase your ticket, you also choose where you want to sit. They have a bar and full menu that you can eat at before the movie, or if you order 15 minutes before the movie, they can bring your food to you.
We ordered some drinks before the movie, and I was able to order a few drinks and carry them both into the movie (double fisting lol). We also ordered some Yam Fries, Mezza Platter, and Hoisin Flank Steak Skewers. The Yam Fries were fried and crisp, but nothing really special. The Mezza Platter came with pita bread with hummus, baba ganoush, and tabouli. All were really delicious. My favourite was the hummus as it was really garlicky. What’s even yummier was mixing them all together. My friends really liked the Flank Steak Skewers. The beef was tender, and came with crisp fried onions.
The movie was kind of boring, or we were really tired, but both Beipas and I fell asleep during the movie. Our other friends were able to stay up though. The food was pretty good, and it’s an awesome idea. Really good for date nights, and hope something like this pops up in Vancouver. Who doesn’t love having a drink or two while watching a movie?
