Island Lava Java food with ocean view

Island Lava Java was the first restaurant I visited in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. We went to this restaurant because it’s got great reviews on Yelp, it was located at a great location, and I had 10% off coupons for it.

Island Lava Java is located on Alii Dr, a street filled with restaurants. The restaurant was located right at the beach. I was there for dinner, so I had the pleasure to enjoy watching the sunset over the ocean while I ate. The restaurant was small, and it had a couple tables out on the patio available for us when we got there.

The menu consisted burgers, pizzas, and quite a few vegetarian dishes. The vegetarian selections was a plus because one of my friend is vegetarian. I got the Beef Burger with Salad (there was only one type of beef burger), while my friends got the Big Island Pizza and Mushroom and Tofu Napoleon.

The Beef Burger was massive and it was really delicious. The beef patty was covered with a layer of melted cheese, layered with lettuce and tomato. It has been a while since I had a gourmet burger, I enjoyed it even more since all the ingredients tasted fresh. The salad it came with was fresh, it was lightly coated with their house dressing, it was really refreshing.

My friend’s Mushroom and Tofu Napoleon was layered with grilled eggplants, portabello mushroom, tofu and crispy polenta. It was also really good. The sauce that was on the eggplants was really yummy. It was really nice that they make good vegetarian food for those who don’t eat meat.

My friend also got a blended coffee drink called Lava Java. It was like Tim Horton’s iced capp but with more coffee flavor, Kona coffee flavor. It was really good. My friend liked it so much that she got another one just as we leave.

The staff here were super friendly. They were always offering to take pictures for us, and asking us if we’re doing alright. Our food took a little long to come, so they offered us a complimentary salad. The prices were decent. The entrĂ©es ranges from $12-$15, the coffee drinks were $4-$5 depends on the size.

This seemed to be a really popular spot in Kailua Kona. They don’t serve alcohol here, but you are welcome to bring your own. This restaurant was a really nice spot to come for dinner, because the view on the patio was just perfect; go early to secure a patio spot. They also serve breakfast and lunch. I’ve walked by it numerous times and it always had people eating there.

Great food with great view and super relaxing environment, it’s something worth to come back or visit for.
