Last week I went to see a movie at 7pm without eating any dinner. Of course, 90% of the time at the movie, I was thinking about food, and as soon as the movie was over, I ran to the nearest place for dinner – The Hurrican Grill.
Ordering food wasn’t particularly hard when you are starving. Between my friends and I, we ordered Mussels in white wine for appetizer, Steak Salad, and Ahi Tuna for entrées.
The pound of steamed Mussels were really good. They were fresh, and they were steamed in white wine, garlic, red onions, and topped with a lot of cilantro. I enjoyed this appetizer a lot.
I also really enjoyed my Steak Salad. The 6 pieces of perfectly cooked steak were sitting on top of a grilled yellow/red peppers, asparagus, mix green salad and tomatoes. The grill vegetables were really tasty, I especially like the amount of balsamic vinegar drizzled on top of them. It’s got a really nice balance of meat and vegetables. Order this with a glass of red wine, would be a really nice light dinner in the summer.
The Ahi Tuna was Ahi tuna steak with steamed rice, and vegetables. The size of the steak was decent, and it was nicely seared on the outside. This dish had a very heavy Asian influence. It was seared with a soy sauce based sauce. I’m not quite sure if the sauce worked well with the tuna. I thought it was missing a citrus ingredient to balance out the fishy taste. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the steak salad.
The Hurricane Grill is located right at the marina in Yaletown, its patio is got a really nice view of the marina. I’m always sketchy about restaurants with locations like that. No offense, but they were usually tourist traps. The Hurricane Grill’s got pretty decent food, I wasn’t disappointed with it at all.
