Green Lemongrass

Besides Pho Lan, Green Lemongrass is another Vietnamese restaurant that I go for pho in Richmond.

My friend and I decided to share a couple dishes for dinner. We ordered a House Special Pho, a Beef Short ribs with pressed noodles, and their Saigon Salad Roll.

Pho was really tasty here. The House Special Pho has raw steak, tripe, tendon, brisket and beef balls. The soup had a really herby taste to it, it didn’t taste like most of the other pho soups at other restaurants, and I liked it a lot.

The Saigon Salad Roll was different from a regular Vietnamese salad roll, mainly because it had slices of Vietnamese sausages in them. They weren’t too bad, they just taste less refreshing than a salad roll.

The Beef Short Ribs with Pressed Noodles was a really big dish. It came with 4 or 5 bbq short ribs, lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers, basil and pressed vermicelli noodles. It’s my second time having this dish here, and I still haven’t quit figured out how I’m supposed to eat it. I tried wrapping everything with the lettuce, wrapping everything with the pressed noodles, eat everything separately. If you know a ‘proper’ way to eat this, please let me know.

The beef short ribs were really tender, smokey and flavorful. The pressed noodles were just sheets of a bunch thin vermicelli noodles that got flattened together. The noodles weren’t seasoned, but there was lots of green onions, and Vietnamese sauce to flavor it. The beef short ribs was a really nice dish to eat in the Summer because everything is super fresh.
