Everybody deserves a nice ice cream sundae on a hot summer day. In the midst of walking around Chicago downtown in the heatwave, my friend and I hopped in to Ghirardelli’s Chocolate Shop for some iced cold treats.
When we walked in there was a big line for ordering the sundaes, but that was OK, because they were giving out their chocolate caramel squares at the beginning of the line. Between my friend and I, we shared a Warm Brownie Sundae ($8.50) and a Very Berry Sundae ($7.95).
Getting the Warm Brownie Sundae wasn’t exactly the smartest idea. We had to eat it really fast, because we were out in the sun at the patio in 30 degrees Celsius weather, and it had warm brownies, and hot fudge. The double scoop of vanilla ice cream didn’t last too long for us, but while it lasted, it was so delicious. It was very sweet, chocolaty, and it was also topped with whipped cream and chopped almonds. The portion was huge, sharing would be a good thing to consider because it could get too sweet with all that chocolate.
The Very Berry Sundae was somewhat a more refreshing sundae than savory like the Warm Brownie Sundae. It had strawberry cheesecake and vanilla ice cream layered with blueberries, strawberry sauce, and topped with chocolate dipped strawberry. It came in a giant glass, and it was more than enough to fill your sweet tooth. It was really really good. The ice creams were smooth and creamy, the strawberries were delicious. And I was glad that I was able to enjoy it more because it didn’t melt as fast as the warm brownie sundae.
This was truly a place to get your chocolate cravings and sweet tooth fulfilled. It got almost everything from the sundaes to all different kinds of chocolates. Whether you’re an adult or a kid, it was simply a place for everyone. Just ask for 2 spoons when you get a sundae.
