I wanted something other than Hawaiian Food, or Tacos while staying in Hawaii, and I saw a bunch of signs for Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse. Since it was pretty close to our condo, we gave it a try. They offer southern BBQ, with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, beans, and cornbread to name a few of their dishes.
We each ordered a Fat Plate which comes with a meat, and your choice of two sides. The price varies depending on which meat you pick. I chose the Brisket for $13, while my friends also tried the Ribs ($14) and Pulled Pork ($12). None of us were big Bratwurst fans. If you pay $19, you get a choice of two meats.
With my Brisket, I ordered the Coleslaw and Mac n Cheese. We found our food to come out not very hot. It was pretty much room temperature. I had 5-6 strips of brisket, and topped with a very nice BBQ sauce that was sweet and smokey. The sauce really helped, because some pieces of brisket were dryer than others, and there were only a few pieces with a good amount of fat. The Mac n Cheese was runny, but for some reason, I didn’t mind it too much. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as rich and creamy as I like my mac n cheese.
The ribs and pulled pork were pretty good too, and supposedy the beans were delicious, especially when mixed with the baked potato.
Overall it was decent BBQ, though I wish the food came out hotter.
