Elysian Coffee on Broadway

I was out on an afternoon coffee hunt when my friend brought me to Elysian Coffee. This was just one of the places where you walk in and you instantly like it. And then after you had their food, you instantly like them again and this time by a lot.

When you walk in, the first thing you’ll see before the cashier is their food counter. It had cookies, sandwiches, croissants and cakes. When I saw that counter, I had a mini brain explosion. I wanted EVERYTHING. I had to tell the cashier to go take a break because I was taking a long time to decide. And when I was finally ready, I realized I left my wallet in my car, what a fail! Luckily I had change in my pockets and they were just enough to cover for my Americano, Chocolate Cookie and a Croissant ($7.25).

Their coffee menu was really simple. There were only 9 types of drinks on the board and all in one size. My Americano was really good. The beans weren’t super roasted like Starbucks beans, it was subtle and smooth.

The Chocolate Cookie was yummy. It was really thick and soft. It almost had a cake consistency but still can be distinguished as a cookie. It had powdered sugar on top, chocolaty but not too sweet. The Croissant was something my friend recommended. It was one tasty croissant. It had a really nice flaky crust on the outside. The consistency of the bread inside was not airy, and it was sooo soft. This was the croissant that as been at their counter for a while, my friend said they’re even better in the mornings because they were made fresh every morning. I’m jealous she gets to eat it every morning.

I really liked sitting in this coffee shop. The place was bright and spacious. I loved their wood tables and chairs, it made the place feel very organic, comfortable and relaxing. The staff were super cool and friendly.

There were so many baked goods I wanted to try but couldn’t because I didn’t have my wallet!  There were a few jars of different cookies, biscottis, croissant sandwiches, and other coffees that I would want to come back for. They have another location on West 5th. I’ll be there soon.
