El Furniture Warehouse is a great little bar/restaurant in Whistler Village. Their main draw is that their entire food menu is $4.95. My coworker told me about this place last year, but I finally got to visit it today after a day of snowboarding. This place is usually busy, being that everything is under $5. But today we went a little after the lunch rush and were seated immediately.
The menu is quite large with items like pasta, sandwiches, and tacos. I was tempted to order a bunch of things, but kept it to just 3. It’s so hard to order just a little bit when everything is so cheap.
I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara which is on their April specials menu. It was pretty good, actually pretty amazing for $5. Actually that’s a lie, I added some chicken to it for another $2 so it was $7, but still well worth it. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was a bit creamy but there wasn’t that much of it. There was a good amount of bacon, chicken and green onion. It was a bit peppery too.
I also ordered their Honey Garlic Wings which come in 10s with some celery, carrots and a ranch dipping sauce. As you can see the wings are a bit small but for just $5 it’s hard to complain. The wings we love at Merlins cost $15. These ones were crisp and the sauce was nice and sweet. I’d like to try the other flavours, and they have specials, which I think is 30 cent wings on Wednesdays.
And also the Beet Salad which came crazy fast. I guess there isn’t much to the salad – beets, goat cheese, candied pecans, and some mixed greens. It was just OK, but I liked the crunch and sweetness of the pecans.
My friend ordered a Roasted Turkey sandwich which came with some soup too. It had turkey breast, cheddar, mustard and tomato on a cranberry sourdough. The sandwich was just alright, but still well worth $5.
Whistler itself is pretty expensive, and if you want to save money, I’d definitely recommend El Furniture Warehouse. The staff is very nice and friendly, food is pretty good and very affordable. And the food comes quick. I don’t know where you can get a $5 bowl of pasta. I heard that some of the items are hit or miss, but I definitely would love to try the entire menu to find out which ones are the best.
