Earls on Kingsway

Earls is right across the street from where I work. They have a fairly large outdoor patio to enjoy the sun, though there isn’t much to look at on Kingsway, unless you want to look at my office building.

I ordered the Fettuccine Alla Panna which comes with a garlic cream sauce, with peas and prosciutto. The dish was decent. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was really creamy. I wish they fried the prosciutto a bit to make it a bit crispy, and to add a different texture. There was also a bit too many peas for my liking, I left my dish with a big pile of peas still. I know it’s one of the main ingredients in the dish, but it was a bit too much for me. Also, the garlic bread was burnt on one side. I’ll need to try more dishes to give it a proper rating.

My brother ordered a Caesar Salad and some Calamari. The Caesar salad was pretty standard according to my brother. The calamari was nothing spectactular also.

I’m kind of iffy about giving this restaurant a score because we didn’t try nearly enough fo the menu. It was kind of expensive for lunch though, as my pasta was about $17.25 for something pretty plain, and I could definitely get better pasta elsewhere – unfortunately I’m not sure of anywhere that’s walking distance from my office. After looking at their menu online, Earl’s is quite pricey! How do you chrage $8 for edamame bean – something that some Japanese restaurants give out for free. Most of their appetizers cost over $10 too.
