Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Las Vegas

I was in Las Vegas celebrating my birthday last week. I was in the mood for a satisfying and semi-fancy dinner, so I went to Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse for my birthday meal.

The restaurant setting was dim, semi-upscale. When we asked them about the dress code, they told us semi-formal, for guys, jeans and a dress shirt is OK.

The menu had a long list of steaks, and wine. I was here for only 1 steak, the 32 oz Bone-In Rib Eye ($90). This was possibly the biggest and most expensive steak I’ve ever ordered, and luckily I had someone to share it with me. For our table of 10, we also ordered a bunch of sides to share, included Asparagus, Spinach Supreme, Mushrooms, and Broccoli.

All the steaks came on a sizzling hot plate with butter on it, and everyone’s steak came at the same time. As soon as our steaks hit the table, we were asked by our waitress to cut our steaks in half to check if it was cooked right for us. That was a very good question to ask at the beginning of our meal.

I ordered my Bone-In Rib Eye medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The outside was nicely sealed, and the inside was nice and warm and pink. Since it was a pretty big steak, our waitress helped us carved it off the bone and split the steak between my friend and I. Almost immediately after that, all of our sides came with 6 other waiters. Each waiter had a side dish with them, and they went around the table asking everyone if they wanted the side dish. Loved the service.

My steak, was SO delicious. The outer seared crust had a bit of charcoal flavor. Each cut was juicy, soft, and it had so much flavor. The steak near the bone was more cooked, and it had more flavor, but the center of the rib eye was very very soft. It was the best steak I’ve ever had. And the sides were also really delicious. The Spinach Supreme was my favorite, it was spinach in cream sauce with bacon bits, it was so tasty. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a steak so much.

It wasn’t just me who had a great steaks there, our party of 10 all really enjoyed their steaks too. I had samples of my friends’ steaks, each of them had their own flavor, each of them was equally delicious. We were really happy customers that night.

The service at Del frisco’s was excellent. We were greeted by our waitress Priscilla shortly after our party of 10 settled. After serving us drinks, she asked us if we had anything planned for the rest of the evening. We told her we had a show to catch at 10:30pm but still have to go pick up tickets. She made sure we got out at 9:30pm, and had a cab waiting for us outside too. I think the best thing about the service here was that it was classy, very detailed, and not pretentious.

My friends brought in mini cakes from outside for me, and they actually put all the cakes on a big plate, decorated the plate with chocolate sauce on the side.  I think it was all those extra little steps that made a world of a difference.

After the meal we were given cards asking for our addresses for them to send thank you cards, I thought why the hell not, and put down my address. And guess what, I got my thank you card hand written by my awesome waitress a couple days ago. So awesome.

I had a blast here. I absolutely loved my steak. This was probably not the best steakhouse in Las Vegas, but it was freaking awesome for me. I wish I could eat more there, appearntly their crab cakes and desserts are really good too.

  1. omg.. totally the best steak I ever had! $65 for my 16 oz bone-in filet! with so much buttery goodness sauce. (But I learned my lesson and I’m not going to say yes to bone in – that bone cost me $25!)

I really liked my chop salad too which was kind of like a Cobb Salad, with the blue cheese and bacon. Had some nice sharp tastes there with the blue cheese and green onions.

And my favorite was the creamed spinach with bacon too! There was so much left of if though! I thought I was the only one that liked it.

You forgot to mention your drink sucked though!
