Catch 122
Ever since Catch 122 first opened, I’ve heard so much good things about it; however, I was quite bummed out that it didn’t live up to its hype nor my expectation.
Here with a couple friends, I ordered a cappucino to start my meal, and a Avocado veggie sandwich with salad for my lunch.
The cappucino was disappointing. It’s quite bland, and the coffee was sour. I wasn’t a fan of it.
The food got to our table soon after, and I started the lunch with the salad. I noticed the greens weren’t so fresh right away. After a couple bites, I was a little disgusted by a few brown and rotting leaves in the bowl. This really boggles me on where their quality control was. The rest of the salad was left untouched.
After the bad start, I tried to keep an open mind about my sandwich. It turned out nice. The avocado’s creaminess was a nice contrast to the crispy pressed bread. There was a lot of sweetness from the caramelized onions as well.
My friend insisted on getting desserts so we ordered a Apple tartin and a Belgian triple chocolate terrine. The apple tartin was a really nice dessert with warm apple tarin and vanilla ice cream. The chocolate terrine was very dense, very intense chocolate flavor.
Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant, because I really wanted to know what everyone is raving about.

Russ, like I said, I really wanted to like this place as I had heard so many people rave about it like yourself. Maybe I expected too much from all the hype. Except for the terrible salad, the food was nice but not amazing as I hoped it would be.
Your review actually makes the place sound pretty good. Why only two stars? You liked the sandwich and the desserts. You didn’t like the coffee and the mixed greens salad. Do those two relatively minor issues bring the whole place down to just two stars?
I’ve been there numerous times. I rave about it. They have excellent coffee. I can’t comment on your salad, but my salad has always been good. I suggest you give them another try.
