While waiting for a seat at the Screendoor, we decided to walk up Burnside to see what else was around there. We walked past Casa Del Matador, but ended up coming back to it. We just wanted something quick because we were going to be eating again soon.
We just ordered the Texas Nachos ($8), and some chicken tostadas. What’s crazy is that during happy hour, the Texas Nachos are only $5. How can they be so cheap, when I’m often seeing $15+ nachos here in Vancouver. The nachos were piled high and served nice and toasty. It was layered with cheese and beans all throughout because they were baked together. The majority of the toppings were served fresh on top like green onions, sour cream, tomatoes, guacamole and peppers. It was quite good, and considering it’s only $5-8 depending on when you go, it’s a deal. You can add meat for a few extra dollars. I did find there to be a bit too much beans though.
The chicken tostada was really good, and quite spicy. The chicken was shredded and topped with some cheese and lettuce. Served with a fresh salsa, and guacamole. The tostada was fried so it was quite light and crisp.
We were only here for a short period of time, but wouldn’t mind coming back to try out more of their food. They have some pretty good deals on margaritas too, and they have a huge tequila list. They offer tequila flights, would be scary to try.
