Tartine Bakery was on my list of places to visit for breakfast/brunch, but we actually only got up early enough one time. We walked by Tartine Bakery by accident actually, and it was closing time. Since I only tried a couple small things I’m not going to provide a rating.
They had a lot of sandwiches listed on their board, and I wanted to try a bunch. But since we came really close to closing time, they were in the process of cleaning up, and only had their baked goods and drinks available. I quickly browsed, and the carrot cake caught my eye, my friend ordered a macaroon. I also ordered a cold tea, while my friends ordered coffees.
I didn’t like the carrot cake much. It was fresh, and used fresh ingredients but the texture was too..organic for me? I’m sure they used really good ingredients, but I think I prefer less carrot, and a bit more of a cakey/bread/airy texture. It was a bit too moist for me. Just not my style.
The coffees that my friends got were decent. According to them, not anything special. My green tea was nice and refreshing, and even better after adding simple syrup. I like my ice tea sweet, and hate how ice tea in America doesn’t come sweetened automatically. I always forget.
We were there well past closing, and they welcomed us to stay while we finished our food and drinks and chatted. So that was really nice of them. If I’m in the area again, I’d try it out for sure. The sandwiches sounded really good, and it was a pity we came way too late.
