I’ve seen a lot of Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurants all over California, and maybe even a few in Mexico. Being pretty much a completely seafood restaurant, I was a bit hesitant to go in. I knew I only had a two or three things on the menu that I could eat. I went anyway.
My three choices were a steak, fried chicken, or ribs. I went for the ribs this time. Honestly I didn’t expect much being that this is a primarily shrimp restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised though. The baby back ribs were fall of the bone tender, and very tender. Good flavour on the meat, but I thought the BBQ sauce was a bit too smokey for me. I still prefer Apple Butter sauce from Montana’s.
My friends ordered Lt. Dan’s Drunken Shrimp and he was in love with it. Came with large char-grilled shrimp, Andouille sausage and served with mashed potatoes and a Bourbon sauce. He said there were lots of flavours going on and balanced each other really well. He really liked the sauce, and the spicy sausage. Other friends ordered the fish and chips which were pretty good, as well as a bucket of shrimp, which was a hit. The pasta – “Of course we have scampi!” wasn’t very good though because it was bland.
The restaurant was really busy and really lively. They have all kinds of Forest Gump memorabilia around the restaurant. It’s good for families. I also ordered some drinks that come with cups that you can take home. Mine came with flashing lights.
