There has been a lot of talk about this laksa place called Bo Laksa King. There were so much hype and so much positive reviews about this place, that I just had to go try this laksa that everyone’s been raving about.
Bo Laksa King isn’t really a restaurant, it’s a food place located inside a grocery store, Joyce-Way Food Market’s version of a deli I suppose. There were 2 small tables inside, and 3 out on their ‘patio’. Seating was very limited here. A lot of people called this a ghetto restaurant, but I didn’t think so, because it isn’t a restaurant to begin with. It was more closer to street food to me. Plus, I’ve been to places that were much more ghetto than this. For example: Super J’s Hawaiian.
This place sells Laksa and Roti Canai and 3 kinds of wraps. There were more items on their menu, but I assume these were the most popular items since they had pictures for them. I ordered a Laksa, and a Pork Wrap, and also shared a large Roti Canai with my friends.
The Roti Canai came first. The portion was large. It didn’t look all that much in the basket, but once you start to eat it, it was like 2 very large rotis compacted in the small basket. Not that we were complaining, the Roti Canai was so flaky, soft on the inside, and nicely crusted on the outside. Delicious.
The Laksa was sooo yummy. The soup base was creamy, had a lot of coconut flavor. It was also a little citrusy, very flavorful, and wasn’t heavy at all. The noodles were perfectly cooked. There were fish balls, egg, fried tofu, chicken, shrimp, hot peppers, bean sprouts and lime on the noodles. Everything together was just refreshing and satisfying.
The Pork Wrap was surprisingly tasty too. I actually didn’t have any expectations for it, and I ended up liking it a lot. It was pork with bean sprouts, cucumber, and sweet chili sauce. It was a really refreshing wrap because the ingredients were fresh. Very very delicious.
This place was also really cheap. My Laksa and Wrap came to a grand total of $10 dollars, tax included. What a deal considering how much food there was. The food was so good, it was so good that I couldn’t stop eating even though I was really full. I ended up getting stomach pains walking to my car. That was happy stomach pains from stomach stretching.
While eating my food there, there’s one phrase that kept popping out in my mind: ‘mmm! refreshing!’ Maybe it was because I was sitting outside on a beautiful day with the sun shining. Maybe it was because the food tasted fresh, but this was a great food place for the Spring and the Summer. Quick, Fresh and Simple.
I don’t know who found this place at first, but thanks so much for doing a good job on spreading the word out. There’s nothing I disliked about this place, so a solid 5 stars from me.

I am going to check this place out since ur review for it is so awesome.. Doing take-out.. Bringing it home to a malaysian “laksa expert” to taste test aka frank to test… Let u know what his findings are!
They make the best laksa I’ve had in Canada. I wasn’t as fond of the wraps. If you get a chance be sure you try their to-go dinner menu items, some of the items are really good, I especially liked the pad thai and the unique salads like samosa salad. It is a very odd location but it does add a sense of adventure to getting food there. I don’t know if there would be such hype and appreciation for this place is it were just an everyday restaurant. It’s definately something special and unique for Vancouver as there aren’t any other Burmese style restaurants.
I like this place. Definitely the most ghetto place I’ve been to, but its awesome. I also normally like hole in the wall type places because it just means they’ve spent their energy on the food and not the decorations!
I have a craving for laksa now after reading this…
Thanks for the awesome review along with pictures helped out a lot!!
You’re welcome Shirlala! Thanks for reading.
