A while ago, Dee and I were craving pasta. After a day of working in Burnaby, we went to Amorosa Pasta House for dinner.
This was a fairly tiny restaurant with tight seating arrangements. The menu allowed you to make your own pasta with your choice of noodles, toppings and sauce, but both Dee and I opted for the ones on their regular menu.
Before I get to the pasta, may I just say, they’ve got the best bread ever. I might be starving that day, but those bread, were amazing.
My small order of spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce came with 2 large beef meat balls. Although the meat balls weren’t dry, I thought it lacked a bit of seasoning. It was just a tad bland. The spaghetti had a good amount of sauce with it. The meat sauce was not bad, but there was something about it that reminded me of Chef Boyardee.
Dee got penne with chicken, mushrooms, spinach in light cream sauce. The cream sauce was really light. I liked it better than the spaghetti and meatballs simply because it just had more diverse flavors from the chicken, the mushroom and the spinach. The pasta was cooked nicely, it was a solid pasta.
Our friend ordered the spinach salad with house raspberry dressing. This was a nice salad, the raspberry dressing was tangy. The salad was generously dressed, but it wasn’t oily. She also got an order of cheesy bread. The cheesy bread was the awesome bread topped with melted mozzarella cheese. It was yummy.
This was a good place to come for a laid back dinner. The service was pretty good. We walked in after a big group of people, but we didn’t wait extra long for our food. That bread, with whipped butter, was amazing.
