49th Parallel Coffee Roasters

I was out on another coffee/dessert hunt and I went to 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters after I found out that Thomas Haas was closed on Sundays (what up with that?!).

Ok, I drink a lot of coffee, but I have to say, I am way too sheltered by Starbucks. This was another independent coffee shop that I really liked. This place was pretty small for it’s popularity. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and all the seats were taken. I probably waited for another 5 minutes before a table opened up.

It was my first time there, and I got a Latté Piccolo. I got it for the name. The latté piccolo was 1 shot of espresso, and steamed milk in a 4 oz cup, a mini latté in other words. I liked it a lot. It was not a strong roast, and it was really subtle and smooth.

The cup was really small, but cute. The milk to espresso ratio was good for me. It was good for people who cannot take straight espresso shots, but doesn’t want to drink a lot of milk.

I wished they had more pastry items in the store. They had some at the front, but I totally missed them. Maybe it was too busy. It didn’t help when their menu only had coffee pricing.

The decors of this place was really nice too. I really liked their blue and dark brown colour scheme, it had a very earthy feel to it. Nice place to get a coffee and chill at.
