My Best Friend’s Wedding at Fraser Court Seafood

My best friend got married a few weeks ago and had her reception at Fraser Court Seafood on Fraser Street in Vancouver. It was a huge reception with about 40 tables. I got there a couple hours before the reception to get some stuff done and check up on things. As soon as I walked in I was amazed about how big it was and how many tables there were.

My main job was to make sure that the slideshow me and my friend made would work. We had a hard time getting help to figure out how to connect it to the two projectors and the many LCD TV’s. I think we finally found someone to show us how to work it when guests started arriving. Note the projectors were really dark, but the slideshow looked fine on the TVs….supposedly, because I was off at the entrance taking a shit load of booth pics at the photobooth that the awesome guys at Small Fry Media set up.

Really cool dudes, and really good quality pics. If you have a wedding or event sometime soon, you should book these guys. It was my friends giveaway for the night, and makes lasting memories. Everyone had fun with it. I like how it’s a private covered booth (still capable of fitting 10+ people – sadly we didn’t get the record for most people in a booth though), and the pictures come out pretty much instantly. You can also customize how the pictures come out, and we were able to insert a monogram that I created. They also post a private gallery on their website for you to view all the digital copies of the booth pics.

So as for the food, I heard it was really good. I hardly got to eat because most of the courses were seafood. But they used really high quality ingredients, and I enjoyed the food I ate. The first course was suckling pig and jelly fish, and when they came out, there were probably 40 servers that came out all together and did a little routine before serving everyone. Quite a show. The roasted sucking big was awesome. Really crisp skin, a tiny bit of fat between the skin and meat, and the meat had a nice firm texture but was not overcooked. The other dish I got to eat was the squab which was also delicious. The main thing that shocked me was the size of the abalone that they served everyone. It was massive! I didn’t get to try the e-fu noodles, because I typically don’t like it anyway as it’s usually bland, and I hate how they serve it at the end because I like my carbs with my meat, and I was also pretty drunk at that point. That being said, my friends at my table enjoyed pretty much all the courses they had. See below for the menu.
