Vancouver shares its love for food and marketing with students
Student Marketing Association hosts the 22nd Marketers’ Night

VANCOUVER, BC (November 7, 2011) – The growth of Vancouver’s food industries is one of the most exciting, vibrant changes to have happened to Vancouver in the past few years. Students from Simon Fraser University have come together to meet the professionals who are intimately close to this change, and discover how they can carry this momentum forward.

Speakers from Earls, 6s Marketing, VancouverFoodster, and Popcorn will be sharing their experiences at Hidden Tasting Bar and Lounge on November 17th for Simon Fraser University’s’ 22nd Marketers’ Night. Food has always been intertwined with lifestyle and culture, but with its growing prevalence in media and entertainment, marketing is now an essential part of any food business.  With a focus on food marketing, students and professionals will come together to discuss the exciting future of Vancouver in one of the largest student-run networking events of its kind.

Students will not only be receiving the wisdom of Vancouver’s best, they will also be giving to city initiatives.  A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (GVFBS). GVFBS does not accept government funding and relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organizations willing to donate funds, food and time.  With an expected attendance of over 200 people at Marketers’ Night, SFU students hope to help the GVFBS strengthen its seasonal charity efforts.

The first Marketers’ Night was held in 1989. Since then, the students of Simon Fraser University have continued to garner support and media coverage from many local newspapers, television, radio stations, and social media outlets.  Marketers’ Night seeks to provide a premier forum for the brightest post-secondary students and current marketing professionals.  To purchase tickets or find more information, please visit www.marketersnight.com, join their Facebook event page or add them on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/SFU_MN .
