On the second day of our Portland trip, we had a very nice breakfast at Bijou Cafe.

I think they are famous for their Roast beef hash, but I absolutely loved their Oyster omelette.

Screen Door

Screen Door is a really popular restaurant and we had to wait about an hour on a Sunday night. They serve Southern food, something that we aren’t too familiar with, but are really interested in trying. They don’t have much of these types of restaurants in Vancouver, so we were really excited to try the food.

Living Room Theaters

Living Room Theaters

We learned how Portland has this cool thing where you watch a movie, while eating good food and drinking good alcohol. We decided on trying out Living Room Theaters on our first night in town. I think they played 5 movies, but we chose to watch a movie called Arbitrage starring Richard Gere. When you purchase your ticket, you also choose where you want to sit. They have a bar and full menu that you can eat at before the movie, or if you order 15 minutes before the movie, they can bring your food to you.

While waiting for Pine State to open at 6PM, we needed to kill sometime. What better thing to do on Alberta St in Portland, than to look for another place to eat while we wait. We choose the Cheese Plate PDX, which is on a lot with 3 other food trucks.

Pine State Biscuits

Pine State Biscuits

October 16, 2012

Pine state biscuits was food stop #4 out of the 5 meals that we did in 2 hours on our first day in Portland. It was hands down our favorite place out of all of the food we had during our trip there.

We were here on a Saturday, and lucky for us it was happy hour from 6pm-1am here on weekends. Each biscuit were only around $5 each, how crazy cheap is that!

The Waffle Window was the first place we ate at in Portland.  Knowing this was the first of many spots we are going to eat that day, we ordered 2 savoury and 2 sweet waffles to share.

Wayfarer Restaurant & Lounge

After our long day of surfing at Cannon beach, we asked the rental shop what their favourite around the area was. The owner said Wayfarer’s. The restaurant was just a down the street from the shop. We were quickly seated outside on the patio overlooking the beach because it was just nearing sunset on the most beautiful day at Cannon beach in the past few weeks (says the locals).

Voodoo Doughnut

You know you’re in America when there’s a 24 hour doughnut shop. I guess when you own Voodoo Doughnuts, it’s a smart thing to open 24 hours, to cater all the tourists like us. We arrive just a little before midnight, and there was about a 10 minute line up stretching out of the shop. Crazy.

Bunk Sandwiches

Bunk Sandwiches

I first learned about Bunk Sandwiches on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives on the food channel. Guy Fieri makes an excellent sandwich salesman.

Like always, when I’m excited about eating at a new restaurant, I wanted to try everything. I got 2 sandwiches for myself, and they were the Local Tomato, and Meatball Parmigiano Hero. Dee and our friend got the Pork Belly Cubano and Tuna Melt.
