Pizza day! This time’s pizza day pizza chain was Fresh Slice Pizza. We decided on fresh slice based on the pizza chains that has delivery service near my work. The closest Fresh Slice location to my office is Metrotown. When we called them, they told us, they only deliver within the mall. What a fail. We had no choice but go pick up the pizzas.

We ordered 3 medium pizzas: Garlic Chicken Feast, Pepperoni Feast, and Super Pesto Feast. All 3 12” pizzas came to $30 dollars, that’s pretty good deal. These medium pizzas were not big, but they didn’t skimp out of the toppings either. I actually enjoyed all 3 pizzas.

My favorites out of the 3 was a toss up between the Garlic Chicken, which had garlic sauce, onion, chicken with mozerella, and the Super Pesto, which had spinach, pesto, mushroom with chedder and mozerella. Both pizzas were very flavorful. The crusts were thinner than regular pizzas, but they weren’t thin crusts. The thickness of the crust was perfect on these pizzas, just thick enough to get the doughy texture, but not too thick to take away the flavors of the toppings.

One thing I notice not too long after eating them was how greasy they were. The pesto pizza had a lot of oil on it, I think it was the olive oil from the pesto. And the pepperoni pizza box was pretty much soaked in grease after we were done eating (look at pictures below). This was a bit confusing to me because their slogan is: Low fat, healthy, baked to perfection. Hmm.. I guess they are low fat and healthier compared to Pizza Hut’s pizzas.

I would get pizza from them again, because all it mattered was the taste, and the pizzas were good tasting, and fresh. On top of that, they were cheap! I’ve also been to their other locations, and the pizza at those locations were good too. This is a really good place to go for a cheap meal.

Pizza Day! I had another pizza day at work, and this time we decided on Flying Wedge Pizza.  They currently have a promotion called Family Trio. For $39.95, we got 3 12” pizzas and a 2 liter soft drink. Not bad, for Flying Wedge, when it is usually around $8 dollars per slice at the store.

We ordered the Tuscan Garden, Bollywood, and Tropical Pig. When I opened the boxes, I realized why these pizzas were cheaper. All these pizzas were thin crust pizzas, unlike the regular slices they sell in stores. I found it a kind of a relief when I saw thin crusts, because I was never really a fan of their thick, dry and doughy crusts. My favorite was the Tuscan Garden, it had tomatoes, artichoke hearts, black olives, pine nuts, zucchini and basil.  Everything all tasted really good together with the thin crust. The Tropical Pig was basically a Hawaiian pizza. I found it to have too much tomato sauce on it, rather boring as there is really only 1 taste. The Bollywood was an interesting one. I was a littel hesitant to try it because the smell of curry was quite strong. I was afraid that I was going to get a long lasting after taste, like I always get after I eat east Indian food. It tasted better than I thought, a bit of curry, a bit of coconut, with cheese, is the best I can explain.

Out of all 3 pizzas, I would order the Tuscan Garden one again for sure. I’m not usually a fan of flying wedge pizza, because the slices were always too thick and big for me. Also I sometimes find their specialty pizzas are a bit too over the top, that they don’t even taste like pizza anymore. I would say, stick to the originals and thin crusts with Flying Wedge.

On my company’s pizza day, we ordered 3 pizzas from Me-n-Ed’s pizza parlor. We decided on Smoked Salmon, Chicken Pesto, and Garden Veggie pizzas.

I made a mistake of eating the Smoked Salmon pizza first. This pizza has a very strong taste, almost every topping on it had a very over powering flavor. It had: smoked salmon, roasted whole garlic, goat cheese, dill, capers, onions, tomatoes, and a slice of lemon for you to squeeze on top of it. It was good, for the first couple bites, then it was just a confusion of flavors fighting in my mouth. I couldn’t really taste the other 2 pizzas until my 2nd slices, that was how strong the flavors on that pizza was.

Out of the 3 pizzas, my favorite was probably the Garden Veggie. It was loaded with artichoke hearts, olives, tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes broccoli, mushrooms, basil and red pepper bits. Each bite was full of toppings, and it wasn’t too greasy. The Chicken Pesto was also very tasty. It had mushrooms, chicken breast chunks, cilantro, red onion and feta cheese.

I enjoyed the crusts a lot. It is unique from other pizza chains, and has a flaky pastry texture. The crusts are thin, which earned bonus points from me, because I prefer thin crust pizzas. For those of you who prefer big doughy pizzas, you will not find them here.

The three medium pizzas, came out to be $65 dollars. Yes, that is about $20 dollars per single medium pizza. A tad too expensive for a quick lunch, or dinner.

4 stars out of 5 for being too expensive, but I will return to try their other pizzas.

Tip: call early to specify a time for delivery. We ordered our pizza at 10:30AM, and wanted them to be delivered by 12PM, and they arrived at 12 on the dot. Pretty impressive timing for pizza delivery.
