Desserts in Vancouver, BC
Thanks to my friend’s kind delivery, I FINALLY got to try the fancy donuts from Cartems Donuterie. In the half dozen box were the infamous Earl Grey donuts, along with Mexican mole, Triple choclate threat, and the daily special: coconut cream.
49th Parallel on Main is also home to Lucky’s Doughnuts. This spacious coffee shop combined with their own selection of doughnuts, makes it a great place to relax and hang out.
Last week we had the pleasure of joining many bloggers and media to try out the new menu at Doolins. We were invited by Pearl Lam of the Granville Entertainment Group.
Mimibuloveme is a dessert shop on cambie and 41st street. We discovered this place via a search on the iPhone yelp app.
On the menu there was a big selection of Ice cream parfaits, crepes, and bubble teas. I was there with 2 other friends and we decided to share a Black sesame ice cream parfait, and a strawberry cheesecake parfait. These parfaits are big desserts and I think they are meant for sharing.
I was first introduced to Thierry Patisserie by a friend. She was telling me that this french pastry shop has amazing macaron and how they have real fruit inside some of the fruit flavoured macarons such as blackberry and raspberry.
I first saw 7 Sweet Sins when I went to a Canucks game last year, and finally tried it out this week. They have lots of desserts in their display case, and they have ice cream served on the other half of the counter. Many of the desserts look good and they had a wide variety from tarts, cheesecakes, regular cakes, mousses, and many more.
A few weeks ago my friends and I were hanging out on Robson street, and we decided to stop by Michi Waffle & Espresso Bar for some dessert.
I’ve had quite an afternoon tea weekend, one home made with friends and one at Faubourg in Kerrisdale.
Faubourg bakery is super busy on weekends. When we tried to make a reservation for high tea, we were instructed to leave a voicemail to make the reservation. We didn’t get any phone calls back, but we went anyway. We ended up waiting for an hour and a half for a table for high tea.
For the longest time, I thought there’s only one place to get crepes around Vancouver. Trixi’s Crepe & Coffeehaus is a place I discovered recently to get crepes other than Cafe Crepe.
I was in downtown one day searching for a place to get some dessert, and I stumbled upon Mink Chocolates. I have been to Mink Chocolates a couple years ago, and they were pretty good back then. Strange, this place always slips my mind when I’m searching for desserts in downtown.
There aren’t that many dessert places in Vancouver that open late. One of the few (and smart) places that do open late is Cheesecake Etc.
OK, I love desserts. I almost always need to eat something sweet after a meal, no matter how full I am. So after my lunch at The Lion’s Den Cafe, I visited Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie on Broadway.
