EXP Restaurant + Bar

EXP Restaurant + Bar

September 29, 2012

EXP Restaurant + Bar is one of the newer kids on the block in Gastown. What’s so special about it? Well it’s a video game themed restaurant! So if you are a gamer nerd like me and my friends, this place probably appeals to you. Sadly, current liquor laws prohibit them from serving alcohol while allowing customers to play video games. That is their end goal though, and they are trying to fight that law. Hopefully they’ll win!

Uva Wine Bar

I’ve wanted to go to Uva Wine Bar for a long time. My friend and I decided to grab some wine and snacks after our dinner at Nuba. We walked in and seated ourselves. There were menus on the tables, and shortly after we our orders were placed.

Pivo Public House

Pivo Public House

Before going to Rogers Arena to choose our seats for this upcoming hockey season *crosses fingers*, we needed to kill some time and have some food. We chose Pivo Public House because it’s so close to the stadium. I’ve been past here a few times, and at times it is really busy, especially when their’s a big sporting event on. This time, it was really dead with just a big group on the patio, and one table inside.

Chill Winston

Chill Winston

Before the Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne concert on Saturday, we decided to eat at Chill Winston first. We’ve been there a couple times but only for drinks. I’ve been wanting to eat there for a long time though. We started off with drinks, and they have some funky names for drinks. One that stood out was Spooning Jesus.

The Whip

The Whip

September 25, 2011

Last week I visited The Whip to grab a beer and catch up with friends from school. On a Thursday night, this place was bumpin’! We had 8 people, and weren’t able to get a table inside the restaurant, so we took over the patio.

Guilt & Company

Guilt & Company

My visit to Guilt & Company has been a long time coming. Ever since I learned that they had board games there, I’ve been wanting to go. My friends and I like board games, some love them a lot. It was one of my phases a year or two ago. This place welcomes you to bring any board games while you snack, drink, and enjoy some live music. They have some board games there, but they are your pretty standard party games, and they have the games listed on its own menu.

Glowbal Grill Steaks and Satay in Yaletown

Glowbal Grill Steaks and Satay in Yaletown

I’ve been to Glowbal about 3 times, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad meal here, this time was no exception. I decided to take my brother and his family out to dinner at Glowbal for his birthday, even with my soon-to-be 1 year old nephew. We sat out on the patio. We were a bit nervous, because although he doesn’t really cry, he likes to pound on tables, drop things, and scream, but it went well, and he entertained the other customers.

Last week we had a birthday dinner at Cobre in Gastown. After eating there, I thought it was a Mexican fusion restaurant, however according to their website it was a fusion of Argentinian, Cuban, Brazilian and Mexican.

Guu Otokomae was latest of all 5 Guu restaurants  that I visited. I went to this one with a fairly high expectation because my friends love this place and said it is the best out of all Guu restaurants.

Finally I made the trip to Gastown and went through Blood Alley to try out the Salt Tasting Room that Giada De Laurentiis talked about on her show. Sadly, Beipas didn’t come along for the fun. :(

Guu with Garlic, so guuuuuud!

Guu with Garlic, so guuuuuud!

March 12, 2010

A few of my friends from LA came visiting this weekend, and before they came they had asked me to make a list of restaurants for them. They were only going to be in Vancouver for 5 hours, and I gave them a list of maybe 20 restaurants. I have to say I salute my friends for hitting up 4 restaurants in Vancouver/Richmond in the span of 4 hours, and still came and ate like champions with me at Guu with Garlic.
