Europe – Prague, Czech Republic
Prague. Praha. Our choice for New Years. This city is awesome. I’d say it was the best city for beer. They do have the highest beer consumption per capita in the world after all.

Our first real touristy stop was Budapest, Hungary. A place with a mish-mash of food from other countries. They are mostly famous for their goulash, but have a few other good treats too.
Our first stop was Dusseldorf and Heiligenhaus where are friends are currently living and teaching. Since it was Christmas during our stay in Heiligenhaus there wasn’t really much to do or so. We decided to just chill, and catch up on our jet lag. They were kind enough to keep cooking for us!
Whoa this took me a while to get to this post. On Canada Day was the first Yelp Canada D’eh Food Truck Block Party at the Waldorf Hotel on Hastings. I got their pretty early, so there was plenty of parking. There is a huge parking lot in the back which I originally parked at, but luckily I didn’t as that place turned into a nightmare, as the Longshoremen came back for their daily meeting. No one could leave until the meetings were over including some of my friends.
Singapore is definitely one of world’s best places for food. I was there for a very short 3 day visit, eating mostly at outdoor hawker centers. I absolutely loved eating there, hope someday I can go back and totally pig out again. The below are my must eats list for Singapore.
I spent 2 weeks in Taiwan this June, and even then I didn’t have time to eat all the different foods Taiwan offered. So many delicacies, so many fusion foods. The below were some of my favorites from my trip.
Vancouver Food Tour has many culinary tours around the city which are educational and delicious. Aside from bringing you to some really great restaurants, your tour guide also helps educate you about the area, as well as the food and drinks. I’ve been lucky enough to go on two tours now – Craft Cocktail Tour Series and now the Gastown Craft Beer ‘n Bites Tour. I’ve learned a lot from each tour and found many of my favourite restaurants in the Gastown area.
On my flight to Singapore from Taiwan, I was lucky enough to be upgraded to Business class by China Airlines.
Besides the very spacious and almost 180 degree reclined seat, personal slippers, extra movie selections and very nice flight attendants, the highlight of my 4.5 hour flight was the food!
This past month I was finally able to go back to the Philippines after 22 years. My first visit was way back in 1990 when I was six years old for a family reunion on my dad’s side. This time, the main purpose was to visit my grandma who just turned 96.
In early June, I had the pleasure and honour of going to Mexico for my friends’ Buttin and Jen’s wedding. We went to Barcelo Maya Palace on the Mayan Riviera. It’s about 1 hour South of Cancun, and 30 minutes from Playa Del Carmen (20 or less if you find a driver who will zoom down the highway at 120+). Barcelo Maya has 5 resorts all in a row.
In the past year and a little bit we’ve taken a lot of photos of food for this blog.
